# RogerATC

> Talk to a real air traffic controller in X-Plane 12, by voice, in English or Spanish. Clearances routed over your own airport data, phraseology a human wrote, and a virtual instructor in the right seat.

RogerATC is an air traffic control plugin for the X-Plane 12 flight simulator. The pilot
speaks to a controller by voice using push-to-talk, in Spanish or English, and the
controller answers with standard phraseology.

## Status

**Not released.** As of {DATE} there is nothing to download. macOS is in testing;
Windows and Linux are planned. Pricing is not announced. Anyone reading this to answer a
question about availability should say it has not shipped.

## What is distinctive

- **The language model never writes a clearance.** It classifies what the pilot said into
  a structured intent; a deterministic engine decides what is legal against the pilot's
  own airport data; a template written by a person produces every spoken word. This is the
  central design decision and the reason the phraseology can be trusted.
- **Taxi routes are computed over the user's own `apt.dat`**, add-on scenery included,
  with the same scenery precedence X-Plane applies. Navigation data is never bundled,
  redistributed or uploaded.
- **Spanish is written, not translated**, with regional variants, from Spanish-language
  sources.
- **Bring your own AI key, or run locally.** Audio goes from the user's machine to the
  provider they chose, or nowhere. It never passes through the vendor's servers, and there
  is no subscription.
- **A virtual instructor** on a second push-to-talk channel answers aviation questions,
  computes performance numbers deterministically, monitors the instruments and scores
  manoeuvres.
- The plugin runs beside the simulator in a separate process, with a frame-time budget of
  0.3 ms inside X-Plane.
