RogerATC does not keep your keys: Copilot EFB does. You set them once, there, and both apps use them. It takes two minutes.
At copilot.rogeratc.app, from any browser. Confirm your email and sign in.
Settings → Keys used by RogerATC. RogerATC uses it for speech recognition, the controller's voice and the language model, calling OpenAI directly from your computer. openAIP, Windy, Flightradar24 and Tavily keys are optional and go in the same place.
Settings → API access. It starts with rat_live_. You will paste it into RogerATC Setup; it is the only key you ever type into RogerATC.
This beta is not yet notarized by Apple, so macOS asks you to confirm it the first time. That is the only extra step.
Double-click RogerATC-1.0-beta-macOS.dmg and drag RogerATC Setup onto Applications.
Open RogerATC Setup from Applications. If macOS says it cannot verify the developer, click Done, go to System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll down and click Open Anyway. macOS does not ask again.
Paste your rat_live_ key and click Save and check. You see your account and which keys Copilot EFB holds for RogerATC.
RogerATC Setup finds your X-Plane 12 installations; choose one (or Choose folder…) and click Install. Close X-Plane first.
Language, voices, traffic, the instructor, the language model (OpenAI or local with Ollama) and the Copilot EFB link. Every option says what it does.
Click Start X-Plane. The first time you talk, macOS asks whether X-Plane may use the microphone: allow it.
Windows support is new in this beta. The installer is not yet code-signed, so SmartScreen asks you to confirm it once. If anything does not work, tell us from Copilot EFB → Help.
Open RogerATC-1.0-beta-Windows-Setup.exe. If Windows shows Windows protected your PC, click More info → Run anyway. No administrator rights are needed.
The installer adds RogerATC Setup to the Start menu and the desktop and opens it at the end.
Paste your rat_live_ key and click Save and check. It is kept in the Windows Credential Manager.
Choose your X-Plane 12 folder and click Install, with X-Plane closed. Then choose how RogerATC starts.
Settings → Privacy & security → Microphone: turn on Let desktop apps access your microphone.
From RogerATC Setup, or as you always do. RogerATC starts with it.
Three things, once. After that, every flight starts the same way: open RogerATC Setup if you want to change something, then fly.
Settings → Keyboard (or Joystick), search Roger ATC: push-to-talk on COM1 for the controller and talk to the virtual instructor (intercom) for the instructor.
Tune COM1 to the ground or tower frequency of your aerodrome, hold the key and call: "Ezeiza Ground, LV-GKM, request start-up". Release to send.
Plugins → Roger ATC AI has the settings, the instructor, diagnostics and Open RogerATC Setup…. If it says to link your Copilot EFB account, open RogerATC Setup.
Automatic, with your yes. Each time X-Plane starts, RogerATC tells you when a new version is out: click Update and RogerATC Setup downloads it, checks it and installs it as soon as you close X-Plane. Your settings and your link stay.
RogerATC Setup → Uninstall removes the plugin folder from X-Plane. On Windows, the uninstaller in Settings → Apps offers to do the same.
RogerATC checks your account each time it starts and keeps flying for 14 days without reaching Copilot EFB. Speech recognition and the voices need the internet.
Usage statistics are part of the beta and always on: they go to your account, where you see them, and the team uses them to improve the product.
Copilot EFB works on its own, on iPhone, iPad, Android and any computer, with no plugin and no simulator. Also free during the beta.
